Shyama Golden Shows New Works in ‘We Are Not Alone’

Shyama Golden’s week-long show at 9 Hall Street in Brooklyn, titled “We Are Not Alone,” comes to a close this weekend. The artist worked with Flavor Paper to create the special wallpaper for the show, which features figures sprinkled throughout. The artist was recently featured in Hi-Fructose Vol. 52.

On her Instagram account, Golden shared insight on the process of creating the wallpaper: “It could have really been 16 separate paintings, one for each figure doing whatever they want : existential pondering, hydrating, internetting, eating cheetos, cutting their own hair (my hobby), drawing UFOs, endless scrolling, cucumber eye situations, etc. I thought it would be interesting to have a variety of bodies and modes of being in one pattern, all connected whether they know it or not. I’m interested in the essential humanity and overwhelming potential energy in that (this is why it will be an infinitely scalable seamless pattern).”
