Kevin J Weir adds to the ghostly nature of vintage photographs with his humorous and unsettling GIFs. Weir’s “The Flux Machine” project uses images from the Library of Congress Flickr account. He posts these photos on both his website and Tumblr account specifically dedicated to this series.
When asked by Angeles and Apes about the source of some of his monsters, which do not appear as taken from archival material, the artist said this: “Everything is either built from little bits of other things I find or created from scratch. Some pixels from here, other pixels from there, some videos filmed in my apartment, etc. Every GIF is a mishmash of a hundred different bits.”
