Hannah Yata's paintings explore both nature and the subconcious, with vivid, vibrant scenes. The work can feel both romantic and and allegorical, with a recent set of works embodying both in "Exile" at Phaneros Gallery in Nevada City, Calif. This body of work explores the story of Adam and Eve in a way true to Yata's form. Yata was recently featured in Hi-Fructose Vol. 45.
When NASA published some new and sharp images of Pluto in the beginning of the year, a dreamland of puzzling patterns was revealed. It was a gift for human imagination. How life would be in Pluto or in other worlds is the inspiration for Corey Helford Gallery’s first group show in their new Los Angeles space, “Between Worlds” (full disclosure: the show is curated by our Online Editor, Caro). Opening tomorrow, the exhibition presents 30 international contemporary artists' visions of the fantasy of planets and lands yet to be explored.
A New York City art space with a penchant for the macabre, Last Rites Gallery currently has its annual group show, "The 13th Hour," on view just in time for Halloween. The show features artists who have come to be associated with Last Rites — Dan Quintana, Naoto Hattori, David Stoupakis, menton3, Paul Booth — as well as many unexpected participants like Hannah Yata, Nicomi Nix Turner, Brin Levinson and Jean Labourdette.
