Netherlands-based illustrator Marald Van Haasteren has crafted art for bands since the late ’80s. His work, for the likes of Baroness, High on Fire, Kylesa, and several others, carries both provocative and elegant elements. These works range from colored pencil and acrylic paintings to digital pieces.

On the above image, the artist says this about the origins of his relationship with Baroness. “This is the one that started it all: John asked me if I was up for designing a shirt for Baroness, which I promptly agreed on,” Marald explains in a post. “After I showed him the design, John informed if I would be interested in helping him with making art for the new album. I think I literally jumped up with excitement.”

Kyle Cobban has said that the sensibility of his surreal drawings are rooted in his career as an instructor, observing students exploring their own stories. Recent work, in particular, seems to be examining the relationship between his subjects and the concept of "home." His drawings on Priority Mail envelopes further underscore this concept.
