The New, Otherworldly Illustrations of Kristina Collantes

by Andy SmithPosted on

Philippines-born, California-raised artist Kristina Collantes crafts absorbing, surreal illustrations that blend futurism and a pop sensibility. She is currently featured in the Superchief Gallery LA show Chimaera, along with Lauren YS and Nomi Chi. And Collantes is featured in the Hi-Fructose Collected 4 Box Set.

The artist cites contemporary illustrators as inspiration: “The first artist that inspired me to pursue a career in editorial illustration was Jillian Tamaki,” the artist says, on her site. “I will always be thankful for her inspirational work. Other illustrators I look up to are Tomer and Asaf Hanuka, Raymond Lemstra, Stefan Glerum, Hellen Jo, Kali Ciesemier, and Killian Eng.”

Collantes has illustrated for DC Comics, Image Comics, Penguin Books, WIRED Magazine, and several other publications and brands. See more recent work from the artist below.
