Philippines-born, California-raised artist Kristina Collantes crafts absorbing, surreal illustrations that blend futurism and a pop sensibility. She is currently featured in the Superchief Gallery LA show Chimaera, along with Lauren YS and Nomi Chi. And Collantes is featured in the Hi-Fructose Collected 4 Box Set.
The artist cites contemporary illustrators as inspiration: “The first artist that inspired me to pursue a career in editorial illustration was Jillian Tamaki,” the artist says, on her site. “I will always be thankful for her inspirational work. Other illustrators I look up to are Tomer and Asaf Hanuka, Raymond Lemstra, Stefan Glerum, Hellen Jo, Kali Ciesemier, and Killian Eng.”
