David Stoupakis’ Haunted Maidens

David Stoupakis' latest paintings have a sense of gothic romanticism akin to the fiction of Edgar Allan Poe. Porcelain-skinned maidens lie supine in Victorian-era dresses, haunted by the spirits of the dead who seem to creep out of the corners. Stoupakis has a solo show coming up at New York's Last Rites Gallery titled "Ashes to Sorrow." The artist shared some exclusive shots from his studio, where he is busy putting some finishing touches on his surreal, macabre visions before the show's opening on September 8.
