Preview: “Word Play” Group Show at Design Matters

While text an elucidate a work of art, it can also be abstracted and stripped of its semantic meaning, becoming a visual element in itself. Coming up on June 29, the group exhibition "Word Play" at Design Matters in Los Angeles features text-based work by Ben Venom, Greg Lamarche, Gregory Siff, Meg Hitchcock, Meryl Pataky, Shawn Huckins and RERO. Curated by Hi-Fructose contributor Stephanie Chefas, the show aims to examine the legacy of text-based work first proliferated by artists like Jenny Holzer and Barbara Kruger several decades ago.
