Eames Inspiration

In 1946, Charles and Ray Eames teamed up with Herman Miller to produce a molded plywood chair that would eventually become a cornerstone of modern furniture design. The Eames Foundation has teamed up with Public Works Dept, Barneys NY, and Gawker Artists to put on an online charity auction for Operation Design. Utilizing the Eames Molded Plywood Dining Chair as a canvas, 20 prominent and up-and-coming street artists have personalized and re-imagined the timeless design to their own urban aesthetic. The chairs will be featured in the windows of Barneys New York (Madison and 61st) on May 11th and will run till June 1st. Check out some of our favorite designs by Aakash Nihalani, Elbow-Toe, Skewville, Darkcloud, Cake, and Peru Ana Ana Peru here.
