Japanese artist Kohei Nawa uses unconventional materials to create fascinating 3D works — from “pixelated” animal sculptures made from clear marbles to her latest foam installation for the Aichi Triennale earlier this year. A 79 day-long event held at 8 different locations, this year’s Aichi Triennale was held August 10 to October 27. Nawa surprised viewers with an immersive installation that gives the sensation of walking on clouds. A black room was filled with a foam-like material that reposed in a delicate, cloud-like landscape reminiscent of the view from the window of an airplane.
