The Photograph-Like Lace Work of Pierre Fouché

Pierre Fouché could be called a textile artist with the sensibility of a photographer or painter.  Many of his pieces seem to be created by black thread in a lace pattern, yet depict finely detailed images of people.  Though it is likely Fouché could have simply printed photographs of these images, his choice of lace is a significant one. Its creation in the past often done in the home, requires considerable time and attention to detail.  Further lace is rarely considered "fine art", but decorative and a craft.  However, Fouché doesn't limit himself to lace.  He also transforms other everyday objects and materials (such as dice pictured below) for his artwork and vision. See more of his work after the jump.
