Known for her paintings inspired by La Calavera Catrina, the icon of the Day of the Dead, Sylvia Ji (featured in Hi-Fructose Vol. 16) continues her exploration of Mexican folk art in her new solo show, “Interwoven.” Opening at Fecal Face Dot Gallery in San Francisco on July 12, the new series of works takes its inspiration from textiles, tiles and pottery. Ji culls bold, repeating patterns to adorn her solitary female figures with rich colors and lush fabrics. Take a look at some of the works in the show, images courtesy of FFDG.
