Raymond Girard has said that his LEGO constructions are created to “express the modern absence of community in city-shaping” and that the plastic represents how cities are no longer built to last. He recently brought this project to Akasha Art Projects, and with “Block Party: The Art of Legometropolitan,” he created a site-specific installation. Laird Kay’s “aerial” photographs are a key component to Laird’s LEGO-filled exhibitions, with a tapestry also created just for this showing, which runs through Dec. 22.
