Preview: Marco Mazzoni’s “River of Milk” at Roq la Rue

Hi-Fructose Volume 20 cover artist Marco Mazzoni will be debuting a new solo show at Seattle’s Roq la Rue gallery later this month. The artist’s exquisitely rendered colored pencil works have captivated audiences worldwide this year and we’re greatly looking forward to his latest body of work, “River of Milk.” Read more after the jump!

Hi-Fructose Volume 20 cover artist Marco Mazzoni will be debuting a new solo show at Seattle’s Roq la Rue gallery later this month. The artist’s exquisitely rendered colored pencil works have captivated audiences worldwide this year and we’re greatly looking forward to his latest body of work, “River of Milk.”

For the exhibition, Mazzoni has crafted a narrative divided into three chapters. The first, The Pathetics, resumes the artists recognizable flora-covered faces in what Mazzoni refers to as a “pathos of emotions.” In the second chapter, The Muses, the artist reinterprets the legends and myths of tragic female figures exploring subjects such as Medusa, Ophelia and Leda. Finally, in The Encyclopedia of Impossible Animals, Marco debuts a new body of work with a twisted naturalist’s touch.

“River of Milk” opens October 12th and will be on view until November

The 2025 Hi-Fructose Invitational is coming

We’re happy to announce that Roq La Rue Gallery will be hosting our 2025 Hi-Fructose Invitational in Seattle on June 7th. The show will celebrate our 20 years of being an artist-owned and operated independent publisher and will feature an outstanding line-up of New Contemporary artists who have been shown in our pages, including this powerful sculpture by Beth Cavener entitled “G.O.A.T”. Bender Gallery is “Standing Strong” with Artists Affected by Hurricane Helene

While fires are ravaging Los Angeles on the west coast of the United States, affecting many of our friends and collaborators, the scores of artists in Asheville affected by Hurricane Helene in December are still reeling from the loss of their homes and studios.
