John Reuss’s Psychological Paintings Explore Inner Turmoil

Based in Denmark, John Reuss creates acrylic paintings of multi-layered figures that deal with inner tension and the struggle to find peace of mind. "In general I am very interested in the inner life of people and that carries through in the way my figures turn out. Their various disfigurements, missing body parts and multiple angles is a symbol of their psychology and cognitive mechanisms," said the artist. The overlapping body parts symbolize a struggle with oneself that Reuss believes everyone deals with in one way or another. Take a look at some of his work after the jump!
