Alicia Martin’s Massive Book Installations

Spain-based artist Alicia Martin creates amazing installation artworks using books. Her series entitled Biographies are made up of streaming book sculptures that are placed outdoors. Each of these three massive installations are comprised of over 5000 sprawling books. Martin often places these gravity defying forms in environments that are vulnerable and exposed to the elements. Her works emphasize that we are living in a time when technology is causing a cultural shift in our acquisition and perceptions of literature. See a video of one of her Biographies installations after the jump!
