The interdimensional creatures painted by Nosego return in a new show at Philadelphia’s Paradigm Gallery. “Died a Few Times to Live This Once” collects new work from the Philly artist, whose real name is Yis Goodwin and was last mentioned on HiFructose.com here. His sprawling works, as usual carry “themes of boundlessness.”
Yis Goodwin, aka Nosego, offers a particularly colorful and celestial vision of the world in his illustrations of nature. Featured on our blog, in his latest paintings and murals, he depicts imaginary creatures and animals morphing into beautifully rendered landscapes. Nosego will next make his debut in Italy at Galleria Varsi with his latest offering, “Electric Breeze”, opening on November 27th.
Philadelphia based artist Nosego paints colorful and emotive images of animals inspired by the idea that we are all connected to our surroundings. We recently featured his exhibition of multimedia paintings “Along Infinite River”, here on the blog, where Nosego portrays wild animals morphing into mystical environments. For his latest mural titled “Little Moment”, Nosego continues to infuse his work with celestial elements and bright colors, but he also wanted to do something a little “different”.
The work of Philadelphia based artist Yis Goodwin, aka “Nosego” (covered here) is instantly recognizable for his psychedelic portrayal of animals morphing into their surroundings. Nosego’s new series leads us through the artist’s subconscious in his exhibit at Thinkspace Gallery, “Along Infinite River”. The show, which opened last Saturday, features a variety of multimedia pieces including acrylic on panel paintings, drawings and an installation of colorful wall mounted sculptures.
Patterns dance in Nosego’s paintings of morphing creatures that shed their skins to be reborn as psychedelic spirit animals. The Philadelphia-based artist pays homage to various endangered species in his work and paints them in an optimistic light. Whether in his street art or in the studio, Nosego fills his work with interlocking designs that distort his chosen animals’ anatomies into something otherwordly. He remixes familiar imagery into whimsical compositions with dizzying details.
Yesterday we brought you our first recap of Portland’s second annual edition of Forest for the Trees, a new mural festival featuring 20 international and local artists. Today, we round up the rest of the murals. Philadelphia-based artist Nosego played with negative space for his piece, which sparkles on a small section of his giant wall with glowing contrasts. Nearby, Brendan Monroe and Souther Salazar collaborated almost seamlessly, blending whimsy with geometry and design.
