What better way to get around to Miami’s over the top art fairs than atop Jeremy Dean’s dual-horse powered Futurama Stage Coach? The completely hallowed-out Hummer vehicle is a rolling statement on
environmental policies, male aggression, consumerism, and history’s habit of repeating itself. Watch the video of Steve Wilson and Jeremy discussing the project and its interesting historical framing.

Going to Art Basel and the Miami art fairs can be an overwhelming experience. It’s a mix of what’s right and wrong about the art world, all at once. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to experience it as a major collector? Enter: the enigmatic Steve Wilson, art collector and co-founder of 21c Hotels. Each year, he goes to Miami to collect art for their hotel /museums located across America’s Bible Belt. Works are displayed in each hotel’s museum/and entry is always free for the general public (not just hotel guests) to see. Steve co- founded the first 21c with his wife Laura Lee Brown in 2006 to bring exciting and contemporary art to Louisville in an attempt to revitalize their downtown, making art often seen only in larger cities accessible to everyone. The collection includes works by HF-featured artists like Kehinde Wiley, Kim Simonson, and Bisa Butler, alongside shows focused on social issues and international conflicts. Join @steveredglasses as he takes over our account for a bit to explore the Miami Fairs to discover and collect new art along the way. #newcontemporaryart #stevewilson #21c

Curating a group show with a ton of artists can be fun. But inviting 278 artists from 18 countries then showing 850 small affordable works is asking for trouble.
The folks at Portland’s Brass Works Gallery created custom post cards and sent them out to artists. The result is an onslaught of rectangular sized art, all priced the same. The show opens tonight. We’d list all the artists but there are so damn many that we’d be flagged for spam. Check out @brassworksgallery for more details. If you want to score one, you may want get there early or be forever a foolligan, wandering around, artless , with a hole in the organ which you used to call a heart.

We’re pleased to show you the cover of the next issue of Hi-Fructose featuring a painting by Lola Gil. Its composition and themes really spoke to us. We also like, that on shelf, you’ll probably just notice the upside down portrait, with the rest of the image revealed when you grab it to bring it to the counter. Look for a 12 page feature on Gil inside Hf 69. It delves into the evolution of her work, the use of glass figurines, and drawing on nostalgia. The issue is at the press and we can’t wait to share the rest of its contents with you.
