HOTTEA returned to SCOPE with the second iteration of his multi-hued yarn installation at the festival entrance, as well as another installation elsewhere at the festival. German artist-duo Quintessenz has brought a vibrant display, as well as returning artist Okuda San Miguel, whose work was seen at other events.

Culver City's Thinkspace Gallery is bringing their extensive roster of artists up north for the group show "LAX/SFO" at Hashimoto Contemporary in San Francisco. The two galleries have shown side-by-side at multitudes of art fairs, including Scope Miami and the LA Art Show, and share a similar taste in figurative, illustrative work. Amy Sol, Casey Weldon, Esao Andrews and Jim Houser are included in the artist line-up, among dozens of others. Take a look at our sneak peek before the exhibition is unveiled at Hashimoto this weekend with two back-to-back opening receptions on October 31 and November 1.
While Miami Art Week has more art fairs than one could possibly attend in five short days, the event that started it all is Art Basel Miami Beach, colloquially known as the main fair. A major market place for the world's most high-profile artworks, it's the kind of place where snippets of conversations like, "Did you tell him 33 million dollars?" can be overheard while walking through the aisles.
The number of events cashing in on Miami Art Week was extensive and impossible to list, but one that stood out was Sarah Potter and Hannah Stouffer's prismatic "IRIDESCENCE" exhibit. The show took place in the 3rd floor Gallery at the Shore Club South Beach, where a friendly mermaid in the lobby pointed you to a futuristic installation featuring international artists including Justin Lovato, Adam Friedman, Lala Abaddon, Francesco Locastro, Gustavo Torres (KidMoGraph), Ultramajic, Jose Di Gregorio, Jonny Alexander, and Hilary White.
Thinkspace Gallery in Culver City is opening a solo show by Jacub Gagnon on June 21. Titled "Worlds Collide" this body of work is a step further in Gagnon's exploration of his surrealist paintings that tell stories of animals, the way they interact and the way humans interact with them. The intersection of the human world and animal kingdom has always been the main focus of his work and with this show he pushes it further with new concepts and unseen characters.
