Rafael Silveira’s surreal world expands in new paintings from the Brazil-based artist. The artist was most recently part of the “Mother & Child” group show at Dorothy Circus Gallery, with the below painting, “Trifacial Mother,” featured. Rafael Silveira Silveira was last featured on HiFructose.com here.

On “Trifacial Mother,” the artist says this: “The protagonist of the female central figure reveals three different faces: in the spectator’s right, the real raw primitive and obscure instinct side; in the left, the artificial persona, or how the woman act in the social theatre and how society seems her. Finally at the center: the mother. A unique, almost supernatural being, made of pure love and powerful enough to create life.”

Jason Limon, whose striking paintings play with the macabre and typography, offers new acrylic works on panel next month in a show at Copro Gallery in Santa Monica. Kicking off on Aug. 10 and running through Aug. 31, "Signs of Life" is at once playful and riveting, in the artist’s knack for conveying perspective and depth.
