In “Exit Reality,” oil painter Ana Bagayan offers encounters between humans, extraterrestrials, and hybrid lifeforms. The show runs Jan. 4-27 at La Luz de Jesus Gallery in Los Angeles, offering a collection of sparse, mysterious works. Bagayan was last featured on HiFructose.com here. Also: The outside window of the gallery hosts a 1/12-scale version of the show.

“Bagayan pays close attention to the contemplative nature of her subjects,” the gallery says. “Alien, human, and hybrid life forms attempt to find the balance between curiosity and fear of the other. Large, elongated figures peacefully pose with their delicate hands gesturing, (an ode to Bagayan’s beloved Flemish Masters) thus provoking an unforced invitation into the warm golden glow of an unknown spacetime.”
