Jamie Winn’s automaton sculptures are both eerie and humorous, often reanimating deceased creatures and depicting nighttime animals. Often using watercolor on wood and custom lighting, there’s also a vintage quality to much of the New Orleans artist’s work. And even as still images, the sculptures are striking.
Winn is also an accomplished tattoo artist. She is also the owner/operator of Space Tiger Tattoos in New Orleans. For her sculptures, in particular, “her works greatly reflect her career in traditional tattooing and its style, but also ventures into the slightly macabre, reminding everyone just how strange the world can get,” a statement says.
