Clive Head’s Nonlinear, Painted Narratives

by Andy SmithPosted on

Instead of capturing a single moment in time, Clive Head’s oil paintings reveal multiple perspectives and actions within a single setting. Tracking a complete, single figure within works like “To the Silence of Tiresias,” below, is difficult, yet the broader humanity of that place and a wider timeframe are revealed upon inspection.

“… With deft ability, he captures multiple perspectives with multiple concurrent timelines, moving through time and space,” a statement says. “These fragmented urban depictions, most often with figures are in essence time-lapsed compilations. The compositions are highly engaging and immediately fascinate the observer. Time seems to come to a kaleidoscopic halt on his canvases and his subjects are masterfully rendered.
