Creatura House Hosts ‘Aquamarine’ Group Show

In the new group show at Creatura House, 10 artists interpret a theme of “Aquamarine” as they see fit. The works from John Brophy, Brian Despain, Jonathan Viner, Flannery Grace Good, Laurie Lee Brom, Logan Hicks, Gail Potocki, Claudia Griesbach-Martucci, Madeline Von Foerster, and Scott Musgrove moves between reflections of the natural world and the mystical.

“We asked a select group of artists to explore the theme of ‘Aquamarine,’ whether that be the stone, the color, or an aquatic theme,” the gallery says. The show runs July 14 through Aug. 6 at the gallery.

Attaboy’s ‘Undergrowth’ Offers 60-Plus Works at Gallery 30 South

In a new show at Gallery 30 South in Pasadena, Hi-Fructose co-founder Attaboy shows sculptural and painted works on wood, which are often interactive. "Undergrowth," tackling themes of "death, decomposition and rebirth," features more than 60 works from the artist. These creations are part of a series that began in late 2017. The show runs May 2-26, with an opening reception planned for Sunday, May 5, from 3 p.m.-6 p.m.

Ferris Plock and Kelly Tunstall offer collaborative and solo works in their new show at 111 Minna Gallery in San Francisco, where they're based. "PMA," which stands for "Positive Mental Attitude," applies their vibrant characters and patterns to their viewpoint of the changing city (or “living beast,” as they refer to it) around them. The show runs through Dec. 20 at the space. In their collaborative mode, the pair becomes "KeFe."

Argentinian artist Lucas Lasnier, aka "Parbo", creates colorful works spanning graphic design, painting, and large scale installations, but he began his career painting street art in Buenos Aires. Parbo is also a founding member of the Kid Gaucho artist collective, previously covered here. His recent works take influence from his roots in letter-based graffiti and stenciling combined with comics and Pop Surrealism.
