The time of year is approaching when the international street art community congregates in Honolulu for Pow! Wow! 2014, an annual art festival focused on the new contemporary art movement. The week-long event kicks off on February 8 with the opening reception of “Pow! Wow!: Exploring the New Contemporary Art Movement,” a group show at the Honolulu Museum of Art curated by Andrew Hosner of Thinkspace featuring Yoskay Yamamoto, Low Bros, David Cooley, Adam Hunter Caldwell, Buff Monster, NoseGo and too many other artists to list (see the full line-up here).
On February 10, painting begins and the streets of the Kaka’ako district of Honolulu will be transformed with murals by local and international artists alike, including Ron English, Seth Globepainter, Skinner, Cyrcle, Kofie and other emerging artists and established greats of street art (check out the roster here). Stay tuned for updates from Hawaii when Hi-Fructose goes to Pow! Wow! starting the week of the 8th. In the mean time, take a look at a video with highlights from Pow! Wow!
