Maiko Takeda’s Otherworldly, Sculptural Fashion Designs

London-based fashion designer’s Maiko Takeda’s latest collection, “Atmospheric Reentry,” is more like a series of wearable sculptures. Slivers of ultra-thin plastic extend from the garments like bristles, changing from clear to blue to purple as if through an electrical charge. Constructed with a precise architecture, these flexible coverings make their wearer appear otherworldly, protecting him or her with an armor similar to that of a sea urchin.
