Realistic Sea Creatures Painted on Layers of Resin by Keng Lye

by Danny OldaPosted on

While this may look like a photographic series of water-dwelling pets, it is actually the work of Singapore based artist Keng Lye.  These incredibly lifelike pieces are the result of a mix between sculpture and painting.  Lye uses resin that dries and hardens to imitate water.  He paints on the resin itself in layers, adding more detail with each subsequent layer.  This laborious process gives the animals a three dimensional quality as well as actual shadows.
