Preview: “Lacrima Aquarium” Group Show at the Acquario Romano

Curated by Alexandra Mazzanti of Dorothy Circus Gallery and Georgio de Finis, "Lacrima Aquarium" brings 33 established and emerging pop surrealist artists to the historical Acquario Romano in Rome for an almost month-long exhibition opening on December 6. Dedicated to the water element, the work in the show apprehends maritime themes through figurative works that focus on otherworldly female beauty. Many of the works, like Ray Caesar's new crystalline-hued portrait or Miss Van's Ophelia-like, drowning muse, conceal melancholic elements in their meditations on the feminine personification of nature. Take a look at some of the work after the jump.
