The newest installation, From the Knees of my Nose to the Belly of my Toes, by Alex Chinneck is at once elegantly simple and ambitiously scaled. For the installation, Chinneck transformed a multi-story home in the English town of Margate. In cooperation with the Art Council of England and several supportive companies, he recreated the facade of the building to appear as if it is sliding off the building, slouching down the front of the structure. The decay of the long unoccupied building is thus dramatized, even made poetic. Its is easy draw on the many issues Chinneck can be inventively addressing with his installation – housing, class, urban decay.
