A self-proclaimed aficionado of tiny things, Diem Chau currently has a show on view at Seattle’s G. Gibson Gallery that pays homage to her adoptive home of Washington (the artist is originally from Vietnam). Titled “A – Z: Northwest Natives,” the show features a series of miniature sculptures carved from crayons and pencils. Chau created an alphabet series that pairs each letter with a different native species of the Northwest and pays homage to the Quinault tribe, the indigenous inhabitants of Western Washington. “A – Z: Northwest Natives” runs through October 12.
