Studio Visit with Glenn Barr

Based in Detroit, Glenn Barr (first featured in Hi-Fructose Vol. 10) is known for a number of noted art series including Haunted Paradise, Heart Aflame and Brooklyn Dreams — gritty, surreal depictions of urban life. The artist is amid a prolific year. His work is currently on display at the Copro Gallery 20th Anniversary Show and will be included in September at the 111 Minna Gallery's 20th anniversary show. He is coming off of a recent sold-out solo show at The Cotton Candy Machine in Brooklyn and the was the inaugural show for Detroit’s Inner State Gallery. Hi-Fructose caught up with him in his studio in the Motor City and got some photos of his workspace which included a bar, a lamp from The Twilight Zone and a mannequin head wearing goggles.
