On September 6, Meryl Donoghue will reveal her solo show “I Thought to Have Been Gone by Now…” at London’s StolenSpace. A culmination of an installation that uses sound and animatronics, drawings and photographic prints, Donoghue’s multifaceted work will transform the gallery into a quietly haunting space. Donoghue’s works evoke a surreal permutation of the fairytales of the Brothers Grimm and Charles Perrault. Like the early versions of the Disney-fied tales we know today, her art is marked by a dark ambiance and macabre elements carried out through the theatricality of the work’s presentation. Take a look at our sneak peek of the digital artworks in “I Thought to Have Been Gone by Now…” as well as a video of an earlier rendition of the moving installation of the same title.
