Inside Out Project in Washington DC
Residents for Richmond, VA and the San Francisco Bay Area should be on the look out for a truck with a camera lens emblazoned on the side of it this weekend. Acclaimed French street artist JR is on the move in the U.S., this time working on a socially-engaged project to make change in immigration reform through public art. Titled “Inside Out Project 11M,” this permutation of his ongoing Inside Out Project seeks to raise awareness of the 11 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S. and shine a light on the struggles of people of color who deal with racial profiling on a daily basis. The portraits are taken in the photo booth truck, printed on site and wheatpasted collaboratively by the public. Immigration reform demonstrations have been scheduled in solidarity with the events.
