N.C. Winters’s 100 Drawings Project Draws to a Close

In late 2010, N.C. Winters began his 100 Drawings project to reignite the spark of drawing for the sake of drawing. The idea was to draw for fun every day, spending as much time on each piece as Winters saw fit without deadline pressure. While some of the drawings are simple and monochromatic, others evolved into miniature, detailed paintings. “There were often times where I was under deadline for some other project, gallery show, client work or some such where I was feeling stuck but had to get the work done on schedule. During those times, I would turn to the 100 Drawings project as a release where there was no expectation, no art direction, no goal, other than to just keep drawing and painting for fun. In that way, the drawings became a sort of artistic release from my other work,” said the artist upon recently completing the project. Take a look at some of the drawings from the project below and see more on N.C. Winters’s website.
