KwangHo Shin Plays with Facial Recognition

by Nastia VoynovskayaPosted on

In Korean painter KwangHo Shin’s mural-scale portraits, smeared and scratched colors communicate emotions similarly to a furrowed brow or creased smile line. Shin obliterates the recognizable aspects of the human face with paint — sometimes by caking thick, Impressionistic dabs or color and sometimes by allowing the paint to run over the face like a veil.
