Scavenging vintage advertisements and scientific illustrations, Chicago-based artist John Clowder scrambles antiquated imagery into bizarre combinations. Clowder spins docile images into something more morbid — guns, weapons and anatomical elements are always present in his work, but they are subdued by Victorian-era propriety of his sources.
