This weekend, Mirus Gallery in San Francisco will open their latest group show, “Dreamtime: New Surrealism” featuring the work of 11 contemporary artists who delve into dreamlike imagery, albeit in radically different styles. This group show examines the ways that the original surrealist movement — which was born as a reaction to the political chaos in war-torn Europe in the early 20th century — created a tradition of art making that allows artists to respond to the senseless elements of the world around them. “Dreamtime” features the work of NoMe Edonna, Kate Shaw, Scott Anderson, Erling Sjovold, Joseba Escubi, Christine Gray, Alex Stursburg, Marcus Jansen, Michael Zanksy, Sam Green and Joe Hengst. Check out our preview below and see the show June 8 – July 20.
