The Disillusioned Fantastical Beings of Qin Weihong

Chinese sculptor Qin Weihong cultivates a world of fantasy in his large-scale work, as if manifesting childhood imaginary friends as material beings. Weihong mixes realistic human attributes with delicately sculptured details culled from flora and fauna. His characters' expressions carry twinges of melancholy, as if these fantastical beings have come into our world only to be disheartened by their surroundings.
