Preview: Alessia Iannetti’s “Daphne Descends” at Dorothy Circus Gallery

by Nastia VoynovskayaPosted on

On February 23, Alessia Iannetti will debut a new body of work titled “Daphne Descends” at Rome’s Dorothy Circus Gallery. Baroque in their level of detail, Iannetti’s mixed-media artworks, which are predominantly graphite, cultivate a sense of mysticism with their high-contrast, largely monochromatic palette and sparse use of color. Singular characters are often found among nature, surrounded by flowers, plant life and butterflies. These female figures are reminiscent of pagan nature goddesses and healers.
