On February 19, Hi-Fructose Vol. 20 cover artist Marco Mazzoni will debut his first solo show in Milan, “Il Ricordo è Un Consolatore Molesto” (Memory is a Bothersome Consoler) at Galleria Patricia Armocida. Fascinated by the connection between women and herbal medicine in Pagan cultures, Mazzoni’s works vindicate the women persecuted for witchcraft during the Inquisition due to their knowledge of midwifery and herbal healing. His color-pencil drawings — which he maintains are still lifes despite the presence of human subjects — celebrate age-old beliefs about the connection between femininity and nature. “Il Ricordo è Un Consolatore Molesto” will include new drawings, Moleskine paper drawings and a site-specific installation. Take a look at our preview of the show below, images courtesy of Galleria Patricia Armocida.
