Oriol Angrill Jorda’s Hand-Drawn Photographic Effects

by Nastia VoynovskayaPosted on

Spanish-born, London-based artist Oriol Angrill Jorda creates mixed-media drawings paintings that mimic various photographic effects, inciting a conversation about mechanized versus handmade artistic production. Working with primarily graphite and watercolor, Angrill Jorda’s drawings take the form of double-exposure photographs, negatives or out-of-focus photos. These technically impressive works serve as records of an invented reality, subverting the documentary purpose of photography to stage surreal scenes. Take a look at some of the works below, images courtesy of Oriol Angrill Jorda.
