Preview: Haroshi and Aakash Nihalani at Jonathan LeVine Gallery

Forward-thinking and innovative with their respective media, Aakash Nihalani and Haroshi, have side-by-side solo shows coming up at New York’s Jonathan LeVine Gallery this Saturday, January 12. A self-taught sculptor, Japanese artist Haroshi will present a new series of polished artworks created from found skate decks for his show, “Virtual Reality.” A lover of skateboarding, Haroshi carefully collects skate decks and melds them into mosaic-like blocks that he later carves by hand. Aakash Nihalani, who has recieved recognition for his geometric street art created with fluorescent tape, will present a new series of minimalist, geometric works for his show, “Portal.” Take a look at our preview of the shows below.
