French artist Shaka recently opened a solo show at New York’s Gallery Nine5 (previewed here) filled with works that break the boundaries between two and three dimensions. Referencing tattoo designs and graffiti lettering with his detailed, dynamic patterns, Shaka creates paintings that break out of the canvas, continuing the painted forms with plaster sculptures.
