Opening Night: Zaya and New2 at White Walls and Shooting Gallery

Last Saturday, side-by-side galleries White Walls and Shooting Gallery in San Francisco opened two solo shows, Zaya‘s “Steppe Warriors” and New2’s “In One Hand a Ghost, the Other an Atom.” While Zaya’s detailed watercolor and ink paintings explored traditional Mongolian motifs and elements of contemporary Asian culture, New2 put a new spin on graffiti. His hand-cut paper collages recreate graffiti lettering with an abstract aesthetic reminiscent of the Futurism movement of the early 20th century. New2 painted the entire White Walls gallery black, continuing his angular artwork onto the walls. Take a look at some opening night photos by Cameron Van Loos below.
