Meditating on dystopian visions and tensions in contemporary society, renowned artist Dave Kinsey (first featured in Hi-Fructose Vol. 13) will debut a new body of work at New York’s Joshua Liner Gallery titled “Everything at Once” tomorrow, December 13. Multilayered figures that seem at once alive and dead dominate Kinsey’s new canvases; his highly contrasting color palette creates a sense of tension and urgency in the new mixed-media series. Figures become distorted among abstract lines and blotches of color, alluding to the loss of personal identity in an age of mass media and political upheaval.

“Collectively, the developed world is swimming in modern media; we’re learning to navigate this landscape every day while becoming unwittingly addicted, for better or worse. And that’s simultaneously exhilarating and a little scary. Throw in climate change and you’ve got a scenario worthy of our attention,” Kinsey said.
