Last night kicking off Miami Art Basel Week were several great art openings. First stop was the Art Basel Convention Center for the Vernissage exclusive evening opening. Next stop was the Art Video event at SoundSpace Park in Miami Beach. This impressive display, which included a 7,000 square foot outdoor projection, was presented by the galleries of Art Basel Miami Beach and featured films and videos of well known international artists. Another highlight of last night’s Miami Beach art scene was the opening at AQUA12 at the AQUA Hotel. There are many artists currently featured at AQUA, however a couple that stood out among the many rooms were Travis Louie (featured in Hi-Fructose Volume 5), Greg Haberny, and Helen Bayly. Travis Louie, who is represented at AQUA by William Baczek Fine Arts Gallery, had brand new works in the space including a piece entitled Miss Trudie and the Bad Hair.
