New York artist, Julie Heffernan’s figurative self-portraits evoke thoughts of Eve’s infamous apple, the tree of life, mother nature, fairy tales, and the Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymus Bosch. The artists lush oil paintings of tree houses and carpeting landscapes have a mythical quality and are a unique representation of the self in nature. Her style is reminiscent of 17th century Baroque paintings with layers of fine details. Her next solo show Sky’s Falling, an exhibition of new paintings opens at the Mark Moore Gallery on Nov 3 through Dec 22, 2012.
