Chambliss Giobbi currently lives and works in New York City. Giobbi creates figurative collages using hundreds of photographs per portrait which he deconstructs by tearing into fragments, then reassembles into a collage that is fractured and has multiple vanishing points. Giobbi’s collage process is extensive and time consuming, he only works with models that he has known for a long time. After reassembling these physically mutated images he then spreads a layer of beeswax over the work. He has been the recipient of Guggenheim, NEA and NYFA fellowships.
