Gottfried Helnwein’s Bloodied Children

Unmistakably controversial paintings that Gottfried Helnwein creates of bloodied children are very impressive to take in. He uses both oil and acrylic paints, a mixed media approach when working on his large scale canvases. His deliberate use of blood hued reds and dramatic lighting help to pose the question of whether or not these bandaged children are dying, dead, or have just been saved from catastrophe. His paintings are unbelievable detailed and usually very large in scale. His most recent bodies of work include The Murmur of the Innocents and The Child Dreams. "My Art is not an answer, - it is a question." - Helnwein
