Manipulation and Re-contextualization by Chad Wys

by Jane KenoyerPosted on

Inside the digital portfolio of artist Chad Wys is an imaginative body of work. He is a conceptual artist, designer, and writer who works out of Illinois where he was born in 1983. His digital manipulation called American Tapestry and Nocturne include playful approaches of manipulating and deconstructing historical works of art. Of course Dali, surrealism and melting clocks do come to mind when viewing his melting porcelain plates, vases, and other decorative art objects, however Wys is an artist that successfully evokes the age old conversation about the meaning of art by looking to the past and re-contextualizing it.
