Black Book Gallery’s “Fairey | Hecox | Houser”

by Nastia VoynovskayaPosted on

Currently on display at Black Book Gallery in Denver, CO is a three-person show featuring a few of our favorite artists, Shepard Fairey (featured in Hi-Fructose Vol. 11), Jim Houser (Vol. 17) and Evan Hecox (who has appeared on our blog). Using sign-painting techniques, printmaking and newspapers as inspiration, the three artists engage with public and reproducible images in their work. Fairey’s political propaganda posters, Houser’s bold, graphic images and Hecox’s use of newspapers as a canvas incite dialogue about how communication and dialogue are created in a public forum through mass media. Take a look at some of the work in the show courtesy of Black Book Gallery.
